Who's In The Dog House

The Doghouse

See who's in the Doghouse this Month!

Every few months we will try to showcase one or two of the staff members
at Gladstone Animal Clinic to help you and your pet get
familiar with our Veterinary Care Team.

JENNY KOHNZ  grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Oak Park High School.  As a former veteran manager at an exotic pet store, Jenny is a perfect fit for receptionist at Gladstone Animal Clinic.  Jenny's past experience with animals, particualarly exotics, gives her a unique insight into our clients' needs especially with those pets that are more non-traditional.  Her knowledge in terrarium setups for reptiles, or cages for small mammals, gives her that extra edge to assist clients with those types of questions.
Being a veterinary receptionist, Jenny is in the important position of providing that crucial link between our clients and the veterinarians at Gladstone Animal Clinic.  By knowing which questions to ask of clients and their pets, Jenny is able to help the veterinarains determine when and if their pet needs to be seen for a certain problem.  Being on the the "front lines" of a veterinary clinic is often very demanding and requires someone that can concisely answer the many questions we receive each day as well as being able to greet the new pets and their owners as they come in. Luckily, Jenny has the aptitude and energy to handle each of these tasks with ease.
Jenny's pets include two dogs:  a Weimaraner named Jazz, and a Border collie/ Lab mix named Madison.  Finally, Jenny has a 16 pound Siamese cat named Mr. Tiggs.  When not working, Jenny enjoys racing her car and riding her motorcycle.  Jenny's high energy, helpful demeanor, and infectious smile make her very positive addition to the front desk at Gladstone Animal Clinic, and we are very pleased to have her as part of our veterinary team.  Jenny has a daughter and son.

PATTY COOPER  was born and raised in the Brookside area of South Kansas City.  Previously, she had worked as a veterinary assistant in Raytown and South Kansas City, so she brings a lot of valuable experience with animals to our clinic.  Patty obtained a Real Estate license and worked as an Agent for a year before going back to work in the animal care field here at Gladstone Animal Clinic.  We are now very lucky to have Patty as a member of our team!
Patty has a very unique job at Gladstone Animal Clinic - a new job position was created around her.  Between the treatment area in the back (where we perform surgeries and take care of the sick animals) and the exam rooms is where you find Patty.  With seven Vets in our practice and five exam rooms, it gets pretty hectic for our Vets to get prescriptions filled, vaccines ready, and knowing where to go next and who to see.  Patty helps to organize and execute much of what you don't see our Veterinary clinic do between appointments.  She gets the exam rooms stocked and ready, checks waiting charts to see what vaccines the doctor will need, and fills the prescriptions the doctors order from our pharmacy.  She also keeps our food inventory up to date, as well as approving and calling to fill pharmacy prescriptions for items we might not have.  If that wasn't enough, Patty also helps to release any pets that may have had a stay in our hospital, and can answer many of the questions clients may have.
Patty is married and has four children and four grandchildren .  She currently has two dogs.  Poppy is a terrier mix that was adopted from a shelter.  Her other dog, Buddy, is an incredibly friendly pitbull mix that was found on the hightway.  Buddy also doesn't mind wearing hats and clothes at all.
A year or so ago we didn't have a person set aside to assist the veterinarians in the exam room/pharmacy area.  Now, it is nearly impossible to imagine not having Patty there to assist us in between appointments.  Patty has made a profound impact on how smoothly things run behind the scenes.  We are very grateful to have her as part of the Gladstone Animal Clinic veterinary team.
