Jeffrey Schlager, DVM was born in Mexico, Missouri and enjoyed working part-time for a veterinarian all through high school. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. VJeffrey Schlager, DVM was born in Mexico, Missouri. He first knew he wanted to be a veterinarian when he was only ten years old. During high school, he enjoyed working part-time for a veterinarian. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. In 1987 he received a Bachelor of Science Degree with honors in Agriculture and then graduated from the College of Veterinary medicine in 1990. He was awarded the Edgar F. Ebert Memorial Award in recognition of outstanding proficiency in large animal medicine and surgery. He also received the Hill’s Pet Products Senior Student Award for his clinical report on dietary management of animals. After graduating, Dr. Schlager joined a small animal & equine practice in Pennsylvania where he practiced for three years. In 1993, he returned to his home state of Missouri to join the staff at Gladstone Animal Clinic. In 1996 Dr. Schlager became the owner of Gladstone Animal Clinic when Dr. John Clifford retired. Dr. Schlager is currently a member of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Quarter Horse Association and the Appaloosa Horse Club. Dr. Schlager has 24 horses, 15 cows, a miniature donkey (Lilly), a miniature pony (Half-Pint), two dogs (Whitlee and Wills) and two cats (Whiz and Latte). He is married to his wife, Teresa, and they have five children (Ashlee, Alisabeth, Austin, Allyson and Andrew. In his spare time, he enjoys training and riding horses, fishing, snow skiing, scuba diving, and country dancing.
